Opened one hour before drinking. Clear with just a slight brume, ruby color with a lighter rim. Mild aromas of strawberry, tobacco, and sweet spices. Very smooth entry, fresh, interesting and rousing mouthfeel, medium body and a 80-grit texture. Gobs of juicy strawberry, blackberry and peppery spice flavors. Medium acidity, integrated tannins that really come alive in the fruit and spice finish. A bold yet easy drinking wine that would never be called a sleeping violet, but there was also lots of character in this bottle. The mouthfeel texture is unique and when it all comes together in the finish there is a finale of wonderful fruit tastes, spice and tannins that combine into an impressive fusion. We really liked it and called it a beguiling Corsican red wine.
