Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Barely clear, dark ruby color with a light purplish rim. VERY AROMATIC damp basement, cherry and sweet raspberry aromas with lots of peony blooms in the background. Soft and concentrated yet lively mouthfeel, medium body and a 150-grit texture. Powerful sour pie cherry, boysenberry and tart current flavors. Nice edgy acidity, soft tannins and a long tart and spirited finish. WOW a very different Gamay than we get from Beaujolais. It was delicious, paired well with the food and turned out to be a really nice sipping wine after the dinner. We expected a different type of Gamay and it did slightly resemble Beaujolais Nouveau, but it was its combination of soft and energetic character that really made it special. We called it easy drinking Gamay that’s a great value.
