Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, light ruby color with a lighter red rim. Strong and bold aromas of damp earth and wet wood with a background of cherry, raspberry and rosemary. Tart and zippy mouthfeel that really gave it vitality, light to medium body and a 100-grit texture. Somewhat subdued sour cherry, current and tart quince flavors. Overflowing with bright acidity, soft, but slightly grippy tannins and a medium length sour cherry finish. No sleeping violet here. This was a vivacious acidic and sour red wine. We thought it started with a dramatic bouquet, but it didn’t follow through with equivalent flavors and in the end we called it an atypical Vin de France red blend.
