Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, ruby color with a light purple rim. Plentiful raspberry, strawberry, clover blossoms and lots of old musty wood aromas. Smooth, dry, dusty and a bit rustic mouthfeel, light to medium body and a 150-grit texture. Soft, intertwined raspberry, tart cherry and cranberry flavors. Lively edgy acidity, smooth tannins and a long dry fruity finish that continues the flavors and had a sight tannin grip. We had this wine at an Undercurrent Restaurant wine dinner and bought it because of its easy drinking character…and we were not disappointed with this bottle at home. It’s a “Garden Variety” wine made with native grapes and a wine you might expect to be served in a small, off the beaten path, Portuguese village restaurant. It paired well with the pork and was perfect for our simple Forth-of-July lunch, We called it an EXCELLENT value picnic red.
