Tasting:

Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Opaque, inky dark purple with a lighter purple rim. Overflowing with ripe plum, cherry, blackberry, fresh ground black pepper and old dry wood aromas. Smooth entry, rich spicy and heavy mouthfeel, full body and a 150-grit texture. Bold flavors of cherry, plum, current, peppery spice and clove. Well balanced, but plentiful bright acidity, fine grained yet very grippy tannins and a long flavor-packed finish that really shows off the heavy fruit and grippy tannins. WOW, WOW, WOW this was a classic California big and bold Bordeaux blend. It was surprising how the grip from the fine grained tannins came to life in the finish. There was LOTS of California sunshine in this bottle, it wasn’t over the top, but pretty close to it!!! We enjoyed it with the venison dinner and called it an excellent New World Bordeaux blend.
