He said: Clear, light ruby color. Cherry and alcohol aromas. Dry, dark berry taste and a fairly short dark berry finish that you can just about chew on. For me the strong alcohol smell made the wine very unpleasant. Nice soft tannins, OK acidity but not a lot of flavor. Drinkable but would I buy a bottle…NO!!! This was BY FAR the best of the three wines we received for being a club member. The others were: Childress Barrel Select Malbec and Childress Barrel Select Barbera.
She said: This was part of the wine club offerings and is better than the other two, but not great or even good. The problem is the flavor, rather a zero. The aroma promised better but did not follow through. Body is medium, tannins are firm, and acidity medium as was expected. A drinkable wine that was acceptable with the dinner but certainly not memorable. Read the label and don’t believe a word of it…In their dreams!!! Not recommended.
Comments: We went to Childress for lunch with a dear friend last Friday and ordered the Signature Chardonnay at $39.99 as we usually do. Very disappointed. We always liked this and put it in the same category as Shelton Vineards Chardonnay but found it very lacking this time around.
Just a note about lunch: the chipotle chicken wrap was loaded with grease from the uncooked bacon and did nothing to help the wine.
