Tasting:

Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby color with the same color rim. Very strong damp earth with secondary barnyard, raspberry, rhubarb and sautéed mushroom aromas. Salty-tart mouthfeel, 100-grit texture and a medium body. Earthy tart fruit flavors including red current, sour cherry, pomegranate and raspberry. A huge amount of edgy acidity that overwhelmed the fine-grained tannins and a long spicy, almost sour, plaster-dust tasting finish. Excellent with the pork dinner, but the balance was just OK at best. The tart fruit, although strong, gave a real zing to each sip. An unusual blend that we thought was paired especially well with the pork dinner.
