Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, ruby color with the same color rim. When I opened this bottle the aroma was like old dish water, but by the time we actually took a sip there were very light and unusual aromas of damp earth, wet crushed rock, fresh cut cedar (Cedrus sp.) and cherry with hints of sage brush being rubbed against. Smooth entry, dry, vibrant and bitter mouth-feel with a medium body and a 100-grit texture. Strong earthy plum, graphite and current flavors. Bright acidity, leathery tannins that have just the slightest grip in the long licorice tasting bitter finish. WOW this wine was both unusual and fantastic. Lots of interesting aromas and an impressive aftertaste where the flavors linger effortlessly to the very end. The whiff I got when the cork came out raised initial concern, but it was quite a sensational Spanish wine at a remarkable price point.
