He said: Clear dark red with lots of brick red in it. Intense dark fruit bouquet. Strong ripe dark fruit (plum, black berry and dark cherry) taste and a wonderful long dry dark fruit finish that ends with hints of dark chocolate. This was a GREAT (in Bold Caps) wine (much better than the dinner it was paired with), it is very, very flavorful, robust and…a “Memorable” wine. I would describe this as an unexpected experience…it has a very plain label, described as “Red Table Wine” and a name that’s difficult to read; but in a word it’s OUTSTANDING!!! We will treasure our second bottle.
She said: SURPRISE was the operative word for tonight’s wine. When Ray chose the wine to go with our “left over dinner” he picked one that he could remember nothing about. It was a red that had moved around our wine cellar for quite a while; but as we opened the bottle we knew nothing more about it. And, there was the surprise!!! Absolutely Yum!!! The first sniff of the bouquet with its pleasant fragrance that persisted through out the meal led the way to a tasty treat that featured a delicious blend of flavor, acidity and tannins. The finish was long, dry and flavorful and provided the opportunity to savor the tannins as well as the dark fruit flavors. Remembering nothing regarding the source of the wine, Ray found that it sells online for $50 +. Surprise? Well, maybe not since it was soooo good. Expensive? yes, but recommended as a memorable wine. This wine became better and better as the dinner progressed and was outstanding as we sipped it after dinner. This is definitely my kind of wine.
